Srimad Bhagavatam

Radhanath Swami on Krishna’s Love for Us

This increase of affection was not māyā; rather, because Kṛṣṇa had expanded Himself as everything and because the whole life of everyone in Vṛndāvana was meant for Kṛṣṇa, the cows, because of affection for Kṛṣṇa, had more affection for the older calves than for the new calves, and the men increased in their affection for their sons. Balarāma was astonished to see all the residents of Vṛndāvana so affectionate toward their own children, exactly as they had been for Kṛṣṇa.

Inconceivable Lord Krishna

The cows had younger calves who had started sucking milk from their mothers, and some of the cows had newly given birth, but now, because of love, the cows enthusiastically showed their affection for the older calves, which had left off milking. These calves were grown up, but still the mothers wanted to feed them. Therefore Balarāma was a little surprised, and He wanted to inquire from Kṛṣṇa about the reason for their behavior.

Guru and Vaisnava Blessing

Nanda Maharaj is truly a loving father who is putting his heart and his soul into pursuing the true welfare of his two beloved children Krishna Balaram. He knows that without the auspicious blessings of great personalities and without the observance of the will of God, that nothing can be auspicious in this world. In fact, one can spend enormous sums of money to perform grand, grand ceremonies – the chanting of Vedic Mantras, the offering of oblations to the sacred fire and so many other of the ritualistic injunctions.

Sucking the Poison

First when putana came in contact with Krishna, Krishna created a condition in her life where when He began to suck from her body, she could feel the very life air coming out. She was struck with fear and then she was suffering terrible pain and she was trying to resist by all means this process of purification. First thing that happened when Putana saw Krishna she was attracted to this child, she killed so many babies but when she saw Krishna she became very attractive.

Developing Affection

People ask, “Lord Brahma is a paramhamsa. He is a pure devotee of the Lord. In fact he is the first guru of our parampara.” Krsna at the very beginning of creation- ‘tene brahma hådä ya ädi-kavaye’. He spoke to Lord Brahma from within the heart and that knowledge and the revelations that Brahma received from the message of Sri Krsna is the seed of all transcendental wisdom.

We have no Independance from Krishna

In Srimad Bhagavatam in ninth canto, there is a story of Cyavana muni. He was very powerful yogi. Millions of time more powerful than any materialist today in his ability to fulfill his material desires. He had attained very great mystic powers. And of course when one becomes very powerful spiritually or materially, the tendency is to become very proud and in pride the greatest danger is that we can offend saintly persons.

Vaishnava is selfless

Gargamuni indirectly disclosed that Kamsa was the son of Devak not of Yashoda Since Kansa was already searching for Krishna, if the purificatory process were undertaken by Gargamuni, Kansa might be informed, and that would create a catastrophe. It may be argued that although Gargamuni was the priest of the Yadu dynasty, Nanda Maharaja also belonged to that dynasty. Nanda Maharaja, however, was not acting as a kshtariya. Therefore Gargamuni said, “If I act as your priest, this will confirm that Krisna is the son of Devaki”

How to Be Real Grihasta

Our own Gurudeva he explains, his father, Srila Prabhupada’s fathers name was Gaur Mohan De and he describes he was a pure devotee of the Lord, always immersed in ecstatic love. By his example he taught his children how to worship the beautiful deity of Radha Govinda. But he explained that his father every night he would invite sadhus to his house, minimum 5 and he would offer them all respects.
